Our History

Built in 1940 by J.W. Browning, this dairy barn served as a milking parlor for up to 40 cows at a time and produced 300-400 gallons of milk daily. The milk was then delivered door to door to the residents of Butts County as well as to local and surrounding schools and retail stores. J.W.'s son, J.O. 'Jim' Browning took over the company in 1968 and switched to a distributorship operation. Until 2014 the barn was stocked with hundreds of milk crates filled with vintage bottles. An antique dealer purchased the majority of the crates and you can now find them being sold in antique stores all over Georgia including Scott's Antique Market in Atlanta. Carson, 'Jim' Browning's oldest grandchild, who still lives on the family farm, his wife Haley and their daughter Elizabeth are restoring the barn to preserve family and community history.

The Beginning

It’s always fun to see a project like this from the beginning. We think it makes the present grounds even more special.

Progress Pics

Transformations always need to be documented. We have numerous pictures capturing our progress for you to enjoy.

Today

Although we are still chipping away at the barn, we like to share how we use the barn personally or capture it in different seasons.
